Commonwealth Bank Email Hoax PhishingIf you get an email purportedly from the Commonwealth Bank that looks like the one below, delete it. The authors of the email are trying to steal your banking details. There is a lot of this that goes on. It is called Phishing. The Commonwelth Bank has a good page on these sorts of email hoaxes
Here is the text of the hoax. ----------------------------------------------------
We are glad to inform you, that our bank is switching to new transactions security standards.
The new updated technologies will ensure the security of your payments through our bank.
Both software and hardware will be updated.
We will offer you extra security for Important Transactions using Personalised Identification Questions.
We will provide new Email Alerts and Bank Messages.
You will be able to create extra login names for yourself with different access levels.
And in the future you will be able to manage your Daily Withdrawal Limits.
We kindly ask you to confirm your account details to
activate new Banking System personally for you. Please, update your banking

Here is a screenshot of the email. The domain commonwealthupdate.com was registered on the 26/12/05 and I received the email a day later. The registrant details are hidden by the registrar.
